Activities included bookmaking, poetry, creative writing, storytelling, puppet shows, author and celebrity read aloud, plays and book stalls. Over 3,000 participants from both private and public schools attended the event.

The festival also saw the launch of Kitab Deu, Bal Sahitya Mohatsav's theme song, composed by Nhyoo Bajrachrya and sung by Ani Choying Dolma. The author and celebrity read aloud were popular events at Bal Sahitya Mohatsav. Authors Narayan Wagle, Kanak Mani Dixit, Shaswat Parajuli, Tulasi Diwasa, musician Amrit Gurung, TV personality Mr. Suraj Singh Thakuri, Superstar Rajesh Hamal and Kamal Mani Dixit drew large crowds of children and adults to their reading children's books .

More than 10 new children's books were launched by Rato Bangala Kitab, Rato Bangala's publication wing. One of the books launched, Every Which Way to Everest, written by Kanak Mani Dixit was dramatized by students of Rato Bangala School at Bal Sahitya Mohatsav. The Flying Kisses, a book by an Indian author Aneel Bisht, was also launched. Both these books have been published in both Nepali and English.
